WHAT IS DATA SCIENCE?<br />
Data science is the interdisciplinary study of mathematics,<br />
technology, and scientific methods used to better understand<br />
complex sets of data known as “big data”.<br />
Experts in this field strive to find new, innovative ways of<br />
extracting knowledge and insight from big data that can help<br />
organizations identify risk and opportunities for improvement.<br />
WHY CONSIDER A DATA SCIENCE DEGREE?<br />
UT’s new Bachelor’s of Data Science combines mathematics<br />
and technology to prepare students with an analytical mind for<br />
a career in the growing, high-earning field of data science.<br />
In this program, students will study mathematical modeling, AI<br />
and machine learning, predictive analytics and programming<br />
languages R and Python, where they’ll learn how to interpret<br />
large, complex data sets that traditional software can’t.<br />
