The life of Bermuda's first Postmaster, Mr. William Bennett Perot, is
closely linked to the history of the City of Hamilton. His family
built their home, which currently houses the Bermuda Historical
Society and the Bermuda National Library, on the edge of what is
now Par-la-Ville Park. The house and surrounding property were
purchased by the Corporation of Hamilton in 1900.
Postmaster Perot, a pragmatic thinker, created a stamp which
bears his signature. His ingenuity makes the Perot stamp, highly
sought after by philatelic collectors around the world.
Residents and historians alike can visit the Perot Post Office,
which looks as it did when it was owned and operated by William
