each student in your class is
perhaps the greatest challenge
you will face. To help students with
reading difficulties it is important to
assess what they can and cannot do and
then plan an intervention program to
meet their unique instructional needs.
Students who are reading and spelling
below grade-level expectations for
phonics must be exposed to grade-level
content, but the content must be differentiated and scaffolded. Phonics
lessons can and should be modified to support the wide range of student
needs found in most classrooms. No instructional time should be wasted
for any student.
