Message from the president<br />
Being a Javelina means being part of a community. For our students, faculty<br />
and staff, often that involves giving back to the community that surrounds us.<br />
In this issue of Javelina TODAY, we highlight some of the ways we give back<br />
through our research, service learning opportunities and volunteer activities.<br />
For instance, our Communication Sciences and Disorders program provides<br />
both student training and clinical services for the community. Staff members<br />
Frances and Silver Chapa organize the Relay for<br />
Life every year, and this year was bigger and<br />
better than ever. These are just a few of<br />
the stories you'll find and the Javelinas<br />
