Dear Readers,<br />
Summers in Javelina Nation are often a busy time. With new student orientations,<br />
summer camps and summer classes, this time of year is usually filled with excite-<br />
ment. This summer was extra special because our campus began the first phase of<br />
construction for the new Music Education Complex. You will read more about<br />
that and other news from Javelina Nation in this issue of Javelina Today.<br />
This issue also highlights some of the outstanding conservation research conducted<br />
by our faculty in the Caesar Kleberg Wildlife Research Institute. The beautiful<br />
heron on the cover of this magazine was on the verge of extinction in the early<br />
