Electricity! It powers our modern lives to such an extent
that we can’t imagine life without it. We know how to
generate it and how to use it, yet we do not really know
what it is. We do not yet know how to reuse or recycle
electricity, or if that will ever be possible. Once it has run
through our devices and powered their magic, it is gone.
There is an impact to using electricity, so it’s important
to reduce our use to manage our impact. The same is true
of natural gas, as well as other fossil fuels, and to a large
extent, water. We must find ways to use these resources
carefully and reduce our overall use.
With other more tangible resources, we have other
options beside just reduce. For example, consider the
bags you are offered when you check out at the grocery
