Telling Stories<br />
When I meet alumni and friends of Penn’s School of Social Policy & Practice (SP2), I delight in<br />
their stories of the School — innumerable friendships, life-changing field placements, and profes-<br />
sors whose work opened new perspectives. So often, these stories are the driving force behind<br />
their decision to give back to SP2 as donors to the Annual Fund. Reading this year’s One Book,<br />
One SP2 selection, DisabilityVisibility: First-Person Stories from the Twenty-First Century, a collection of<br />
essays edited by activist Alice Wong in 2020, I was struck by the many allusions to the importance<br />
of storytelling.These begin in the opening quotation:<br />
