Dear Readers:
As I looked out my window in mid-August, I saw groups of students returning
to campus in preparation for fall. At this point, it was mainly those students who
needed to be here for practice: football, volleyball, band. I also saw some interna-
tional students who were here for orientation. Of course, faculty and staff are here
and preparing for students.
As the days pass, more students and faculty will arrive and the campus will come
alive with activity and the excitement of a new academic year. Watching these
first groups arrive, it occurred to me that although we come from different places<
