‘A WONDERFUL THING’
Students refurbished and painted window
frames for a building at the Tampa Heights
Community Garden, part of January’s MLK Day
of Service. President Ronald L. Vaughn sees
activities like these to be integral to the UT
student experience. “We’ve made a strong
commitment to our students to encourage
them to be responsible citizens,” he said.
“Because at UT, they’re going to get exposed to
the role of community service. And that’s a
wonderful thing.” See page 54 for more of
Vaughn’s thoughts on service learning.
